unfortunately I have come to a realization. which I should've seen coming the day I was like 'oh fuji is akechi but tennis' but like, I was like 'I won't care about fuji' and then I mean...to be fair, I also didn't think I'd care about akechi or yuki either. you have to think about it like this: feminine guys written by men are better than feminine guys written by women/gay people. I can't believe I would ever say that but it's kinda true.
the face of the matter is that if you made a triangle out of AKECHI*, FUJI, YUKIMURA >it would be like these people are almost the same thing but all are different sides of the same thing. and if that, TO YOU, is not beautiful I cannot help you. note this will probably be terrible misreadings of each character to fulfill propogandic metrics.
*I have to note here that akechi is not my p5 1pick, it is HARU [me, girl who is extremely susceptible to propaganda]
this topic came about because I was telling sib about fuji while we were on the matter of Akechi, and sib was like 'do you just like feminine boys topping?' and like, YES, it's kind of about that, but it's Not. it's actually about how all three of them are actually 0.7-0.8 and they'd all be relatively 'Ok' with bottoming but it would kill them in different ways inside. maybe not yuki much but that's because no one in the world would make yuki bottom unless yuki himself forced himself to bottom. in which case IT WOULD kill him on the inside. list of guys who all have to unlock bottoming but still would never do it willingly.
I'll make the actual triangle later but I think the on-surface appeal is very very much:
- feminine guys who are princely except for yuki who is actually masculine guy that's very ladylike.... but the effect is the SAME imo. approaching the same result from different directions.
- guys who seem nonthreatening because they are polite and refined and almost fluffy...
- something something about how akechi's confidant rank-up is when he says 'I hate you' WHICH IS WHYYYYYY it's the best confidant in the whole game. but also TO ME is very parallable with fuji in fuji v kiri and also fujitez where Fuji's best tennis and most honest self only comes out when he's honest with his dissatisfactions v. yuki having to be pushed to a dark corner of fear to bring it out ... it is all about THE NEGATIVES revealing the true steel of character...
- actually above point can be boiled down to >saying I Hate You< is the truest reveal of character and moment of arc. yuki admitting he does not love tennis, fuji v tez where fuji resents tez for making him care about tennis. obviously akechi rank8.
- polite and kind as a front, except at heart you are actually almost cruelly blunt/direct even in that politeness.... ITS SO GOOD EVERYTIME. ITS JUST SO GOOD EVERYTIME.
- guys who just don't give a shit about method, only results. guys who also just don't give a shit about motivation Only Result. Guys who just Don't Care. and only put in the minimal effort needed to make people leave them alone.
- weird, forced-distant in every interpersonal relationship. bitches who are like You Can't Get Close >>>>> and like, truly even when you're like damn I must be close, YOU AREN'T!!!
obviously, all of the above doesn't apply to all 3 at the same time. however. I think it works. I don't care if u think this is a misrepresentation of any of the three I mentioned, Not To Me they're not.
anyway some differences also:
- Akechi is a PRINCE, fuji is actually also a Prince, but can passably be a Lady if required [genderless boyisms], Yuki of course is a Lady.
- yuki is an alpha while akechi is a betacuck, and fuji is a beta who's just chilling. sorry to randomly abo I just think it is very important to point out that Akechi would be a betacuck and be extremely complexed by it while fuji would not care<3 actually fuji could have some complexes but it wouldn't matter very much. yuki would simply not be complexed about these things<3
- akechi is literally the joker of p5, and fuji veers slightly away from being the joker of tennis [thankfully], and Yuki would simply never. he's at a higher level than both of them.
- guys who are gay who are also varying levels of straight.
- writing this list is so painful bc it's like 'yuki would simply not care about any of these things' because yuki only cares about TENNIS while akechi and fuji both have complexes about not caring about things but also deeply caring about things.... similar patheticies<3
- akechi has perfect narrative foil, while fuji has No Narrative Anything, while yuki has kiri :) what does yuki have kiri mean? wouldn't we ALL like to know, otp: burn every shot into your memory
