fwcuthe problem with my last post is that it was very negative... and I am, if nothing else, toxically optimistic. I suppose it doesn't seem like it because that post is still up, but mostly I wrote it out because I thought it'd be funny, and reading through it, it is really funny [To Me]. you can truly hate on anyone for anything!
I think I'll just talk about assorted dynamics I like/have been pondering over recently/etc. also, doesn't it just annoy you that I drop words like 'ponder' into sentences. I said something to someone earlier today and used 'detest' instead of 'don't like' and I know they had to ask me to repeat what I said because I used the word 'detest'. like for the love of god, how can someone talk like that. I'd call it pretentiousness, but it's like that's just what pops into my head so I say it. life.

variation on 'master and puppy' except ladies are inherently more refined, more 'soft' power-based, and more repressed. slightly more long-suffering, and slightly more lenient, and generally more thoughtful. another big thing here is Kindness.
I generally don't like master and dog, because it's too bdsm-y, but Lady and Dog is more a play on the Actual, Literal Dynamic. being of, A Lady, and her Dog Animal Pet. in my head, the difference lies in how master and dog generally relies on Absolute Obedience, while with Lady and Dog, there's a certain rein of freedom given - which perhaps the Lady is not entirely keen on, but can't control. because I think 'Lady' implies a certain level of control is not reached. either because she chooses not to [ladies are not Extreme Sadists, they don't derive pleasure from (forceful) absolute control/obedience...soft-power indicating that it's something freely given]; or because she can't.
it's about blind devotion - the dogs in question think The Most Highly of their ladies; it's also about Instruction - it IS derived from master-pet, c'mon; and then in-line with instruction, the complex of what you [lady] can make your dog do, and what you [lady] should make your dog do, because y'know, what's a dynamic without some scorn and tension. I think what makes this dynamic, most of all, is that they're Ladies. and more than a master, a Lady is soft. and so, the failure of dynamic [which is also the Height of Love to Dog] comes down to the gentle, forgiving hand. Why kiri can't fill troika's shadows, why nobara, as much as she doesn't want to, lets yuuji have a chair. love is the end of duty, duty is the end of love. it is the curse of a lady that she's too soft to fill the role of a master. and why, if the lady becomes the master, she's scorned. the can't-win ism of it all, really truly makes it for me.
on other notes. yukiaka [best tennis ship of all time] also takes a lot of different forms [each more epic and beloved than last] but I really like this lens, because I think it encapsulates the simplicity of kiri's approach to [tennis/???] versus the careful composed worldview of yuki's. and then also the looming failure in tennis. well I like the Inherent Tragedy of it All, so to me it's failure. also bc yukimura is a lady!!! and kiri is a dog!!!
on kokomi and gorou... man... first of all, you're literally going to give me A Dogboy and then give him A Direct Superior on Whose Orders He Is Acting... second, I saw this meme with the 'nothing to smile abt in my life' formatting w kokomi's character icon where she is not smiling, and gorou being the 'a smile would be nice' comment and like... LICHERALLY SO TRUE!!! ladies are supposed to be cautious and careful and slightly Melancholy and Touched by Premonition.... all while dogs are Totally Unaware<3
nobayuuji actually are better named, 'little tiger and his rose mistress' courtesy of my friend, and once again! all of it strikes true!!! itadori is overenthusiastic and reckless, and Nobara has a modicum more thought and Ladylike Intuition.... idk it's all good. I love nobayuuji T-T...you have to think of all the nagging and chastising and doing things her way and how it would all be taken happily!!! I mean she's dead now, but that's really it, isn't it? the lady has to take the fall.
I can't even be sorry for being a dulcie/gideonist in 2021, like they HAD it ALL. lady who is weak and kind and gideon [dog] who falls for the kindness... like knowing that they were surely doomed for failure because that's how books work and still reading thru and being gotten... the perfect outcast lady and outcast doggo combo....I can't even begin to explain the chokehold this ship has on me. some of us are SUSCEPTIBLE and WEAK in the face of >falls in love with first person who was kind to them< trope.
anyway I hope this was very illuminating on why lady&dog is good.
pre-emptively. FUCK NO noren is not lady&dog, would never make a good lady&dog, will never be a slay lady&dog, and I hate to say it but it's because renjun is not a lady. he's also a dog. which I understand might be hard to stomach, but realize that it's true. renhaech sometimes almost do lady&dog posturing, but like in everything, they confuse the roles and also don't do it often enough.
anyway. I think to fully dispel all bad vibes, ummmmm..... my next post will also be on something stupid like um dreamie 0-1 list or whatever. which I think could be funny bc I think everything is funny but could also lead to me getting pelted with rocks.
