okay I listened to this mini when I remembered it existed and it's not we young or we go up or we boom BUT if there's one thing dreamies know how to do it's release summer tracks that immediately make me forgive anything, again nothing on this album is as good as anything they've released previously, but they have the summer feel on like half the songs so it was good to me. renjun's styling is so fucking atrocious but I think he gets a decent portion of lines so
the only comment I have about the MV is that I liked the red black outfits of which I think jaemin got the nicest one. but it's really typical eboy? styling I'd say and you can't really go wrong with red/black/white combos. every other clothing choice is atrocious. well the printed suits aren't but only jaemin and someone else got that. and then. uhhhh. uhhhhhh. renjun in shopping cart cuz he's the shortest that was my first and only thought. I like the braids they did to his hair and nothing else. god the styling is soooo bad. I think the printed suits like would've fit the theme so I don't understand why Everyone simply did not get a printed suit. ugh whatever.

it's like really obvious looking at live performances but renjun and haech are always going to be the vocal standouts among dream. chenle just has a really baseline singing voice and jisung has some uniqueness with the deep tone but his singing isn't really 'melodious' ... on the other hand, renjun and haech both have really lovely voices and really pretty vocal colour and they just complement each other so well and it's really perfectly shown here at the second prechorus.
the other standout. and this is terrible taste on my part, is jaemin. obviously he has the face and he has like...he's not good at rapping but I feel like his inotation is so robotic that it's vaguely hypnotic ... the so bad it's kinda good twist.
I hate dream's super baggy styling, I think there is something deeply wrong with their stylist but like renjun's outfit seriously works here. I think it's because the pants are straight and loose as opposed to just baggy and loose, which helps make his legs and therefore him, look longer/taller + the colour of the jacket and the shirt is a fun combo + the dance actually works in favour of the outfit because you get pretty consistent peeks at his bodyline, where the belt really helps to highlight his waist. really good balance of accentuating his frame rather than trying to overcompensate for it
on the other hand. my fucking god. they hate him so bad. there's ways to make his hair look good. I believe this. anyway, the everything of this performance. styling makeup hair... is just really highlighting how Just Some Dude nearly every member of nct is. renjun is the only one not giving me just some guy vibes because (a) he's renjun (b) u can kind of get what the stylist was going for (c) his eyes are so cute and pretty here (d) skunk. the skunkosity of it all.
also this is one of my more liked tracks on the album and the dance is um. cute I guess.
my other comment is that I like it when jeno gets styled all puppy like he is here bc his typical cute stage mannerisms work really well with it but man half the time when I see him I feel like he didn't age well.

I think they sometimes hit the mark with this really well, but one of the most charming things about renjun's frame is how narrow his shoulders are...so like in this perf when he's on the couch, it comes through really well with how the shirt fits and hangs a little loose around them....idk it's very cute to me and very characteristic of him.
I also think this is a happy accident on account of his earpiece... but the key to this hair seriously is to like pin back the lower portion, and have the front bangs hang loose around his face... and it just looks soooooo pretty....
again the thing with the high waisted pants and belted waist making him look longer and working for his frame instead of trying to compensate for it...... you can really tell this is a good renjun look because I'm not paying attention to anyone else I have nothing to say about the rest of them. im Renjunfan ofc.
tho I will say I just like the outfit concept for this perf in general. I do think the stylists obsession with like... these ugly ass heeled boots needs to die....and most of them look like they're the front display of a forever21 collection but that's just because for most of them their jeans are styled really badly with their shirts versus renjun who's styled perfectlyyyyy. imo. like I think jisung also looks really cute.

only watching because I need a better outlook on what renjun's actual performance distribution is like. luckily I clicked on a perf that had pretty alright styling. like it's pretty basic kpop styling imo just colours/prints chosen to match the concept ... and as a fan of pretty tacky prints, I like most of the picks here. like mark's shirt, the collar of renjun's jacket is really epic imo, the printed pants are a nice touch. I feel like the decision to have jisung and renjun do the second prechorus together was like ... mostly to help jisung's voice. which I don't think is bad, I think just on it's own it wouldn't have kept the feel of the first prechorus since his vocal colour is so different. what I appreciate about this song is that haech leads all the yelling verses. if it was any other member I would've liked this song way less. and if it was mark I would've killed myself.
I hate to say this but there's never any need to give chenle a bridge. ever. like it's always so much more effective when it's renjun/haechan just because his voice is so baseline it doesn't feel like a bridge. yes that opens the arguement that jisung can get a bridge but I think they should just always do what they did in boom, and give him the last prechorus because it's such a good marker that this is the end of the song since his voice really does contrast so much with everyone else's

like the thing about chenle starting the bridge here is that when he starts you think it's the bridge, and he finishes with renjun and you're like this is the end. and then haech comes in and then you think again, Oh this is the bridge. so like once it's over at haech's note...the start of the bridge registers as when haech came in rather than when chenle started it. also randomly having renjun enter with chenle is so stupid. I think the random addition of all the joint lines in this song is so stupid.

I'm saying this with like absolutely no basis or knowledge but I thought this before in the other perfs from this livestream and like...I swear Renjun improved so much in singing which is one of those things where someone was already good before but somehow they're even Better Now....idk his like tone switches? are sooo effortless and pretty....mannnnn....MANNNNN... also I feel like his 'main vocal' feel is off the charts with this comeback... like with how dream is distributed the concept of 'main vocal' really doesn't exist imo but somehow renjun is claiming it OK. I think it might be the amount of random adlibs he has.
