this is literally not even the post I wanted to make but uh. I have to. very light on analysis, mostly a reference post
other quick note, Kaeya's pretty fond of referring to people by their titles, though he'll exchange between [title][name] and [name] often enough. I think he calls Amber '[adj.] Outrider' a couple times, but that always comes off more playful than official.
other other quick note, Varka is almost always referred to only by title ['Grand Master (Varka)'], whereas with Jean, everyone tends to refer to her more as 'Master Jean' or simply Jean, or you know '[AGM] Jean'. within the knights and also People Who Know Her Personally, Kaeya does stick out so bad for solely insisting on AGM, which is whyyyy this post exists.
LAST NOTE: the only other person who is as stringent about referring to Jean as AGM is EULA. however um, she has spoken of Jean, only four times. so not a lot of evidence to work with. though in her teaser, she refers to her as 'That Gunnhildr girl'. also, Eula being the only other person to do this actually just adds to my point about Pointed Workplace Dynamics rather than detract from it.
from kaeya's voicelines:
(about Klee) Klee. Seems she has failed to elude the Acting Grand Master's investigative skills, despite the pointers I gave her... Haha, I'm kidding, no need to go reporting me or anything.
(about Noelle) I was entrusted by the Acting Grand Master to work in the background to support Noelle, but there hasn't been much for me to concern myself with — she has a good head on her shoulders. Quite the relief.
note: other characters in their (about Jean) will refer to her as AGA, but either don't do so when mentioning her offhandedly [like Kaeya], or when speaking to her. albedo, sucrose, barbara come to mind.

Traveller: Why is Jean the Acting Grandmaster?
Kaeya: The Grand Master is currently off leading an expedition, so the Master, Jean, has stepped in to oversee the Knights while he's gone.
Kaeya: Hence, you'll hear many refer to her as the Acting Grand Master.
Kaeya: When the Grand Master left, he took the vast majority of our knights with him, leaving the Acting Grand Master with far more responsibility and stress.
Kaeya: Come to think of it, it must have been difficult for Jean.
note: I just think this is so fucked up. also implies that kaeya refers to her as so to remind everyone of her [relatively new] position. which just points back to shadow/henchmanship disease.

Kaeya: So instead, we just gave you all the credit. After all, you did do more than your fair share of work anyway.
Traveller: So... You gave me the credit to hide your own shyness?
Paimon: Of course! This party was clearly Kaeya's idea! Shy Kaeya? This is gold!
Kaeya: Haha... You think so?
Paimon: So you admit it!
Kaeya: Hehe... I'm only indulging you since it's such a special day today.

"We all know that the Acting Grand Master is a good judge of character, don't we? The Knights of Favonius are interested in a person's ability, not their family history. That's why she gives up her time to spar with the Reconnaissance Captain. In doing so, she can preserve the dignity of the Knights of Favonius while also providing a way of settling old grievances. Quite brilliant, don't you think?"
final count
AGM: 13 (-2)
Jean: 10 (-2)
Master Jean: 1
honestly, results of this are pretty inconclusive. but also, um, unlike nearly everyone else who will usually say 'AGM Jean' at least once. he has literally never done that. so there is definitely hints of ummm, separating personal name from professional title. also, when he refers to her as 'Jean' there is usually a more personal touch to it.
I would assign Kaeya as having similar diseases to Barbara, except Kaeya is way better at remembering himself than Barbara is (i.e, Barbara basically loses all pretenses after calling Jean AGA once, but Kaeya does not). kaeya and eula having similar stances on how they want to refer to jean is literally CTFUUUU but at least Eula literally has family rivalry/sworn enemyhood/etc to fall back on. WHAT'S KAEYA'S EXCUSE?
I think the most damning of the evidence compiled, is his voicelines, since they're very. They. you know how it is. but funniest has to be golden apple archipelago, like holy shit, how are you going to calling her AGM straight to her face after she first names you.
